• I’m a little behind in updating about my spring break after meeting with my parents, mostly because the free wifi is in the lobby and I’m less apt to spend much time here. However, since I’m free this morning, I’m gonna catch up a little bit. So, on the 1st, I spent the day in Charleston, SC with my parents. They had both been there before, but were up for seeing the highlights…

  • During the conference, I took an afternoon and called Diane. It was so wonderful to talk to her! 😀 Unfortunately, my phone died mid-conversation and it took me a while to get it charged back up due to not bringing a plug converter…so much for all my packing experience! Anyway, it was like a light switched back on somewhere inside of me. I’m not sure how to explain it, but it was funny…

  • The conference was truly a crazy few days as I started to get over jet lag and was getting up early every day to attend sessions. My main intent for being there was to do the Leadership Certificate Program, which I had started through some online courses in the fall. At the time that I started I wasn’t yet sure that I would complete it, but when I found out that the conference…

  • Happy April first!!! 😀

  • Phew, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind the past few days…. I would write more, but I’m exhausted. Instead, I will just post some pics: [shashin type=”photo” id=”4789,4790,4791,4792,4793,4794,4795,4796,4797″ size=”small” columns=”max” order=”user” position=”center”]

  • I feel like I have returned to my days of full-time studies the past day or so. First, I arrived on Tuesday night and got settled in. Then, yesterday I spent about 11 hours at the Pennsylvania Convention Center for the Doctoral Student Forum. It was a good day overall, if not exhausting! Tis all to report for now. Will try to have more of interest next time. 😀

  • _1Q84_ by Haruki Murakami I am not actually sure what prompted me to purchase this book on my iPhone Kindle, but when I was searching for something to read in the future, this title kept coming up. So, I figured I would give it a try. Although Murakami is quite popular, I have only managed to read one of his novels – _A Wild Sheep Chase_. Generally, I don’t get into the postmodern…

  • In general, if I haven’t planned prior to traveling, I basically do whatever the mood strikes when I am actually on the trip. This makes things easier for me as I either plan or plan to be spontaneous. 😛 Since my main purpose for coming to Toronto was to visit with my friends, Shu & Q, whom I hadn’t seen since they left Abu Dhabi over a year ago, I didn’t really do…

  • Jet lag hasn’t been so bad considering the amount of flying I did, but it still exists…. Although I woke up at 5am with some dozing until about 10am, Shu and I still managed to walk from Howland through Little Italy to Queens Way to Chinatown to Kensington Market area and back home again. It was a beautiful day, which was very much welcomed after yesterday! 🙂 After a short rest, we headed…

  • My first full day in Toronto has been pretty relaxed. We had a relaxed start, but still on the early side as I’m kind of used to getting started around noon, not when it is still morning…. 😉 [shashin type=”photo” id=”4671,4672,4673,4674″ size=”small” columns=”max” order=”user” position=”center”] So, we headed down to St. Lawrence market, which is a farmer’s-like market in a renovated warehouse near/in the Financial District. There’s two kinds of markets – a…
