I’ll attempt to keep this all theoretical and as objective as possible, but it may be hard. One of the reasons that I started doing my dissertation on the topic of leadership development and training is because of working with so many leaders or people who want to leaders who don’t have the basics in leadership skills. Of course, there’s the argument of is a leader born or made? There’s also a discussion…

EEK!!
Time is flying by and I have gotten out of my habit of writing regularly – either here or anywhere. Here’s what’s been going on: *I’m taking an online course through tesol.org called “Training Trainers”, which has been pretty good so far, though keeping me extra busy. The good thing about taking these courses are the contact I make, plus it keeps my head fresh towards working on the PhD. *Speaking of PhD,…

_Steve Jobs_ by Walter Isaacson
_Steve Jobs_ by Walter Isaacson Like the man, I found the varied reactions of people to the book to be passionate. The few people to whom I mentioned that I was reading this book gave me responses such as “He was such an asshole that I couldn’t keep reading it,” or “He focused too much on doing drugs and this is suppose to be a role model,” or “He really wasn’t much of…

Good-bye iPhone?
Well, my silent period for thinking turned into an extremely busy period of working. Thus, the thinking has been pushed aside and the space in my brain has been filled with stuff at work, an online course and my research activities. Amidst all of this, I’ve been pulled to a slight halt when yesterday afternoon someone walked into my closed office (though not locked) to steal my iPhone while I went to the…

Jet lag…
Going to bed around 8:30 or 9 or 10, waking up at 2 or 2:30am, laying in bed trying to go back to sleep until 5ish, getting up at 6am, going to work, ready to die at 1:30pm…. This is my current state of insanity! ๐ -T

Spring Break 2012 – Return to the Dhabs
To ensure that we got to the airport in time, we allotted quite a bit of time to get back to Charleston for my flight at 2.30pm. We stopped for a breakfast in Myrtle Beach and then hit the road. It was much faster and easier to get back, so we arrived at the airport by 11ish. My parents didn’t want to hassle with the rental and so they came to the airport…

Spring Break 2012 – Myrtle Beach: Day 3
Since I was a little bit red from all the sun the day before, I was less inclined to spend the day at the beach again. Though, I have been enjoying being back in warmer temps! Instead, I went down for my cup o’ jo at Starbucks and did some writing. After that, I went back to the hotel to catch up on Internet stuff, such as posting! ๐ For lunch, we went…

Spring Break 2012 โ Myrtle Beach: Day 2
My parents are in Myrtle Beach for a two-day seminar/conference on retirement planning. It’s more for my mom’s company retirement than anything else, but that means that they have sessions during the day. So, I went out exploring in the morning, but there’s not much to see. Then, I headed to the beach for the day, thus there weren’t many pictures to take…. I did meet M&D for lunch and then they came…

Spring Break 2012 โ Myrtle Beach: Day 1
On the 2nd of April, we drove from Charleston to Myrtle Beach. We stopped on the way for breakfast and had a nice Southern meal: [shashin type=”photo” id=”4844,4845,4843″ size=”small” columns=”max” order=”user” position=”center”] Then, after settling in to our hotel in Myrtle Beach, we headed down to see what there was to see – [shashin type=”photo” id=”4846,4847,4848,4849,4850,4851″ size=”small” columns=”max” order=”user” position=”center”] Apparently, when my parents were young, there were Piggly Wiggly grocery stores in…
