Too tired to write anything significant the past day or so…. More to come this weekend. 🙂

Is anyone else out there?
A friend of mine wrote a really lovely post on his blog about his struggle with depression. As a fellow sufferer of bouts of depression and dealing with my own “un-labeled” or self-diagnosed bipolar I or preferably called “ups and downs”, I really appreciate it when I find people sharing their own stories. Today my students asked me what I would like to do for a ‘real’ or rather dream job. I said…

New Year’s Preamble
Why wait until the new year to start re-evaluating and preparing to re-align my life goals? Since I don’t like to call them resolutions as it just tends to set me up for failure, I do like to take a step back from the path I am on to see if it is heading in the right direction or if I have allowed it to veer off a bit. So, I am taking…

Brain drain or brain break?
In an email that I received last week, the writer made a comment about how she thinks Facebook and other such media affect people’s patience and ability to write or think. It made me think about the amount of time I spend on the computer and watching TV rather than reading or writing like I used to. It’s been since I came to the UAE that I spend so much more time away…

Happy National Day to the UAE
It’s National Day today – December 2nd – and this year is the 40th anniversary of the country’s formation. 40 years young and yet so surprisingly advanced. The Emiratis do love their country, I mean who wouldn’t when your leader gives pay raises just for being a national? Still, there are big plans this weekend for celebrations all over the country in all seven emirates. I have to say that I’m glad that…

Pottery Update
It takes a while for me to finish projects in pottery because of the time it takes to fire and glaze as well as I can be somewhat inconsistent in attending classes. However, a full batch of items were finished up last week and so here they are! Gardening – Part 3
After just one week of planting seeds, the seedlings for almost all of them have gone up like crazy. I already need to transplant some of them before they fall over! [shashin type=”photo” id=”4389,4390,4391,4392,4395,4396,4393″ size=”small” columns=”max” order=”user” position=”center”] The rest of the plants have also been doing quite well in this cooler, but still warm and comfortable weather. 😀 [shashin type=”photo” id=”4394″ size=”small” columns=”max” order=”user” position=”center”]

Cute Omiyage
My BF went away during the week off that we had vacay, while I stayed here. He brought back some goodies and the cutest was a German gingerbread house – Hansel & Gretel was one of my favorites and this brought back happy thoughtss! Happenings around campus
I haven’t been writing much about work because I try to pretend that it doesn’t exist when I am at home. However, there have been some interesting activities worth taking photos of…. [shashin type=”photo” id=”4384,4386,4387,4388″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center”]

Gardening – Part 2
It’s been a couple of months since I last posted about my container gardening. So, here’s an update. I transplanted most of the seedlings and that has been going pretty well. Of 8 tomato plants, 6 have survived so far. About three of them are really growing well (pic will come later). Here are pics of them after a week of transplant – The carrots are questionable as to whether or not they…
